Continuing to Create Positive Changes
Minds Matter, LLC and its talented, compassionate team members have helped individuals adjust to life following a brain injury for over 3 decades.
Our approach of holistic functional therapy, collaborative care, and consumer advocacy has allowed thousands of Kansans to live independently and thrive within their communities.
But our work doesn’t end there. We are constantly working to remove the barriers that prevent those with brain injuries from living a full life on their own terms. Along with functional rehabilitation, we also provide opportunities through legislative action and an extensive network of community resources.

Thank you for being such an amazing organization! Your team was priceless to us when our son came home 3 years ago after his TBI. I wish we were in a place where I could make a career change because I would do it in a heartbeat 💜

I have worked for Minds Matter for over a decade as a Speech Language Pathologist. It is, by far, the most client-focused organization for which I have ever worked. It is a small company where I have enjoyed the flexibility and independence which I have experienced all the years I have worked there. As a therapist, I prefer the home and community based setting to work with individuals as it is the most natural and real-life environment where I can help clients improve their independence and confidence in communication opportunities with friends and family. In my opinion, Minds Matter sets the standard for working with individuals who have suffered an acquired brain injury in this setting.

I’ve been a COTA for 9 years and never felt like I was able to reach my full potential (even holding management positions), until I began working at Minds Matter. This organization is like none other. Not only is Janet amazing but so are all the other staff members. We get to be in the community making a difference for those that may not have been given an opportunity in a traditional setting. Minds Matter truly wants to make a difference for our consumers but also for the employees. This is the only organization that I have ever worked for that actually means it when they say family first for their employees and to top it off you get to essentially create your own schedule and have amazing flexibility with it to boot.

What has my 7 years of service taught me? That minds matter. This is a company of well educated people. They all share the same heart for bettering the lives of those affected by T.B.I. Consisting of both assistants and licensed therapists. They willingly give their all with what is available. Sometimes that might be a PTA instead of an officially licensed PT, but that doesn't mean your services have to suffer. All PTAs are supervised by a licensed therapist. All employees are required to submit a progress report after each session. Patients always have the option to sign it if possible. However, if you ever feel that your therapist, licensed or not, isn't cutting it, then all you need to do is request someone else. They'll get right on it. Sometimes you get a replacement therapist that week, but sometimes after 2 weeks. It all depends on who’s available. I hope this review is helpful to you. Are they perfect? No. But they're perfect for me. I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for them. -Brittlyn Lee, a grateful T.B.I survivor, artist, author, and animator.

I first came into contact with Janet Williams and Minds Matter in 2016. My son, who was 12 at the time, was injured in an accident and sustained a severe TBI. He was in the hospital for 2 months, then outpatient rehab for 5 months. When he was discharged from his daily outpatient program, I had no idea where to go, who to call, or what to do next. Janet Williams had heard about my son through social media, and had reached out early on, and told me to let her know if I needed any help. I took her up on that offer, and it was the very best decision that I have made throughout the past 4 years regarding his care and therapy. At the time, I believe that he was the youngest patient that Minds Matter had worked with, and he still receives therapy from them today. All of the skills that he has recovered, and considering that, even 4 years later, he is still making gains, has been incredible. I give much of that credit to Minds Matter. Minds Matter isn’t just a company that provides therapy, the employees have become like family to us, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them! -Annie Martin, mother of a consumer

I owe Minds Matter my life!?! Long story short....in 2015 my husband past away, leaving me with no Income or medical insurance. I'm disabled but my case was in appeals with social security. I lost our home, my car, my cat ran away and my 11 year old Mastiff died Christmas morning. I was homeless with no income and no family or friends to help. Salvation Army and Minds Matter came to my rescue. My very own Godsend, my Angel.... Minds Matter came to me in January 2016 and has been at my side ever since. Countless hours and days, late night phone calls, a shoulder to cry on, mountains of paperwork filled out and mailed, phone calls and appointments. They wouldn't let me give up and believe me I wanted to. They didn't stop until I had Food Stamps, Medicaid Ins, Prescription coverage and a complete team of therapist and a home health care giver for daily assistance. I would not have survived my nightmare without you!!!! God Bless you guys, always. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Minds Matter LLC Is a lifesaver! They've been there for me ever since the beginning when I was first at KU Medical Center! They're a true blessing in my life, if it wasn't for them and their wonderful staff, therapists and everyone involved. I wouldn't be as far as I am now and where I'm at today!

The therapists are AWESOME! I'm actually glad I have had to open up my home to them. It is wonderful to have an agency like this available. I have learned so much from them, and they are so willing to help me, the caregiver. We are not alone!!

I really enjoyed my time at the all staff meeting in Emporia. If I am being completely honest, I was extremely nervous and was not as eager to attend as some of the other employees probably were. As someone who has severe social anxiety, my first reaction was panic. I love working remotely and that was a big factor that lead me to apply at Minds Matter. All that being said, I am extremely excited to attend the next one! I never realized how much I was craving connection until I made some connections at the meeting. I always felt supported by my coworkers, but felt inspired and fell in love with my job all over again after the staff meeting. I drove home with the biggest smile on my face due to all the new relationships I had built. I would like to give a HUGE thank you to everyone that made that meeting possible! Obviously I work at Minds Matter, but I have a new found sense of belonging after attending the meeting! That is a feeling that I will never forget, thank you all again!
