Our intake team meets with people as soon as possible after a referral has been made. We receive referrals from a variety of different sources for individuals across a wide spectrum of backgrounds and situations. Our staff collaborates with social workers and case managers working in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, mental health centers, homeless shelters, nursing facilities, and correctional facilities all across Kansas. This collaboration also includes ongoing work with the individual’s family and friends to ensure all their needs are met as they prepare to transition home.

Our Approach to Community Navigation
Brain injuries can happen anywhere to anyone, but the reality is that many people are thrust into a situation they have never encountered. With our many years of experience and a keen understanding that this is the person and family’s first time experiencing the trauma, a daunting medical system, and an increased need for community resources, we partner with the person and the family to navigate all needs across all systems.

The approach we use centers around teaching individuals self-advocacy as they regain or relearn their skills. Our functional therapists guide them through the process at their own pace and empower them to become self-sufficient. The end goal of each of our therapy plans is for every individual to realize that they no longer require our help to perform daily tasks and activities. We want every person to have a system in place that functions for them so they can sustain their best life to live, work, and play in the community.
