About Daniel Kennedy

Bio

Dan joined the Minds Matter team in November 2017. Having experienced two knee surgeries while playing high school/college football, he was introduced to the world of therapy and rehabilitation without choice. It was through these experiences, he found his desired career path of helping others to recover, mentally and physically, following their own personal injuries/medical situations. I He completed his studies at Kansas State University (Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology) and Rockhurst University (Master of Occupational Therapy) on the way to becoming an OT in 2010. Since this time, he has worked in Los Angeles, Topeka, and Kansas City while focusing on recovery following a stroke or traumatic brain injury. “Helping people become the best versions of themselves isn’t a job, it’s an opportunity. I’m privileged to play a small role in the successes of others, and I look forward to continuing my own professional journey in connecting more and more people to the services they deserve at Minds Matter.” Dan can be found enjoying all things Kansas City with his wife Emily and daughter, Kemper. Weekends are often spent with family visits to City Market, the Kansas City zoo, playgrounds, Bar K (with his dog Porter), or at Arrowhead and Kauffman stadium. In his free time, Dan enjoys being a Dad, working out, golfing, reading, walking his dog, and listening to podcasts.

Fun Facts

For the past 5+ years, I have spent many Friday nights volunteering for the “chain crew” at North Kansas City High School’s home football games. I enjoy traveling, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. Most recently, several vacations have been spent adventuring in the Pacific Northwest throughout Oregon and Washington with my family. My favorite family date nights often include one of my favorite KC restaurants; Ponak’s, Garozzo’s Downtown, or Woodyard Bar-B-Que.
