About Laura Kimler

Bio

Laura Kimler has been a Cognitive and Behavior Therapist with Minds Matter, LLC. since August 2011 before starting the role of Regional Rehabilitation Director in 2021. She shared, Life can be complicated and unexpected in many ways and helping consumers with brain injuries to find their voice, self-confidence, self-advocacy skills and independence is the foundation. Helping people rebuild a meaningful life on their own terms is the reason she does what she does. Minds Matter philosophy: Nothing for me without me. Before joining Minds Matter, she worked in the property and casualty insurance field, the art and design field, but has had numbered years of experience helping those in her community with disabilities and life challenges. Laura was a CASA Volunteer for 10 years. She graduated from KU with her master’s in social work in 2021. Prior to KU, she received her bachelor’s in art and design from St. Mary University in 1992. She has a 26-year-old son who she much enjoys spending time with. In her free time, Laura is an avid dance roller skater. She is an outdoor enthusiast, loves watching ballet, hiking, and listening to music. Although life is busy, she still sometimes enjoys getting the paints on a canvas. Laura’s favorite part of working for Minds Matter is watching consumers achieve that meaningful life after knocking down a lot of barriers.
